The Michelin Guide's review
The Vercors is an amazing natural fortress that covers some 206,200ha-spanning the valley of Isère and the Diois. This high rugged limestone plateau, rich in beech and resinous trees, lies at an altitude of between 1,000m/3,280ft and 2,300m/7,546ft. Fast-flowing mountain streams lined in spectacular cliffs cascade down deep narrow gorges. Wide open landscapes and a multitude of grottoes and abysses depict this unspoiled, mysterious territory.
