The Michelin Guide's review
Behind the guise of an austere military fortress imprisoned by four round towers, the Castillo de La Calahorra hides one of Spain's most delightful Renaissance patios. Built in the 15C according to artistic criteria of the Italian Quattrocento, it is two storeys high and boasts a superb staircase with three flights of steps. The ornamentation of the doors and the capitals shows the influence of the Classical style, complete with mouldings, carvings, candelabras and flowers.
