The Michelin Guide's review
The fieldstone church was built in 1768 and enlarged in 1884, when the façade was refurbished and twin steeples added. The statues in the niches of the façade, representing St. John the Baptist on the left and St. Francis of Assisi on the right, are the work of Amable Charron, who also designed the cornices of the interior. The main altar was fashioned by François Baillairgé and the tabernacle by Noël Levasseur. Six paintings by Antoine Plamondon grace the walls. The Stations of the Cross were carved in 1945 by Médard Bourgault, a native of Saint-Jean-Port-Joli.
