The Michelin Guide's review
Vatnsnes peninsula is one of Iceland's many remote landscapes (you'll need your own vehicle here). The area is well worth a visit, both for its surreal air of tranquillity and for its seal colonies, which you are most likely to see at Ósar, especially in fine weather and at low tide. Just 200m from the beach, an enormous 15m basalt arch known as Hvítserkur rock rises out of the water.
