Park or garden
  The Michelin Guide's review
Located away from the city centre, this garden created in 1632 by Hosokawa Tadatoshi allies the simple and minimalist style of Momoyama-era tea gardens and the more ample and meticulous composition of Edo stroll gardens. Designed for the purpose of relaxation, it has an area of approximately 64ha and reproduces the 53 famous landscapes of the old Tokaido road (joining Edo - now Tokyo - and Kyoto). As well as a Shinto shrine and a Noh theatre, the garden also encompasses a gorgeous teahouse.
