Pura Maduwe Karang
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
Dedicated to the gods of the earth and crops, Pura Maduwe Karang is striking for the creativity and originality of its sculptures. A profusion of figures drawn from the epic tale the Ramayana stand on either side of the entrance steps. Time weathered porches give access to two successive courtyards, shaded by beautiful frangipani. Local children will point out the most surprising bas-relief (to the left): a man on a bicycle, its wheels forming flowers.
