Scattered up the hillside, sheltered by two rocky spurs, the impressive ruins of Lato, an important Dorian city, occupy a superb site. The viewpoint over the gulf, the sea and Agios Nikolaos is testament to the strategic position of the city, the existence of which has been established between the 7C and 3C BC.
