Of the 85 remaining Irrawaddy dolphins still found in the Cambodian section of the Mekong, 20 or 30 live opposite Kampi, to the north of Kratie. This rare freshwater species is sadly critically endangered today by the pollution of its river habitat and modern fishing techniques. Come early in the morning or at dusk during the dry season (March-June) if you want the best chance to catch a glimpse of them. The tour will also take you around the many tiny islands of the Mekong river.
