The Michelin Guide's review
Founded in 1689 by professors from the Jagiellonian university, this church is one of the best examples of Polish Baroque. On its façade, note the fine effect of the superimposition of three portals on one another. Inside, the stucco work by Baldassare Fontana (nave and altar) is remarkable. The south transept has a sarcophagus housing the relics of St Jan Kanty (1390-1473), supported by four allegorical figures symbolising the main university faculties (philosophy, theology, medicine and law).
