Desmond Castle
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
This modest three-storey stronghold was built in the late 15C for the Earls of Desmond. It became a warehouse for arms during the Spanish occupation and a "French prison" under the English. Today it houses the Museum of Wine, which recalls the profitable trade thanks to which the town prospered and also the history of several great Irish emigrant families.
