The Michelin Guide's review
Standing guard at the mouth of Galway bay, the islands of Inishmore, Inishmaan and Inisheer are limestone outcrops with an identical geological structure to the Burren's. You will see the same lunar landscapes, with expanses of curious-looking pebbles and a network of drystone walls forming a patchwork of small fields with short grass and sumptuous flora. The hamlets, comprising strings of little cottages, remain one of the most solid bastions of the Gaelic language.
