The Michelin Guide's review
On this site on December 17, 1903, brothers Wilbur and Orville Wright, owners of a bicycle shop in Dayton, Ohio, made the first successful controlled, powered airplane flights. The current 431-acre memorial houses a visitor center with exhibits on the brothers' life and achievements and reproductions of their 1902 glider and 1903 Flyer. On the grounds of the memorial stand reconstructions of the Wrights' simple 1903 camp buildings, and the Wright Brothers Monument, a 60ft-high pylon of gray granite topping Big Kill Devil Hill.
