The Michelin Guide's review
Dunmore Cave, one of the finest in Ireland, has some splendid formations that fascinate potholers and archaeologists. Historically speaking, the cave is mentioned in ancient mythological Irish texts, such as in the 10C Annals of the Four Masters, which tells the tale of how the Vikings slaughtered many people here. The series of adjoining chambers have been given fanciful names inspired by the shapes of the stalactites and stalagmites, which are shown off to great advantage thanks to clever lighting.
