The Michelin Guide's review
The restoration of this neo-Classical house from the 1840s triggered a concerted heritage preservation movement in 1960. The place is now dedicated to famed naturalist John James Audubon, who visited the island in 1832 while working on his authoritative book, The Birds of America. The house features a fine collection of engravings and a lovely tropical garden.
