The Michelin Guide's review
Longwood Gardens is a famous horticultural masterpiece created by S. du Pont de Nemours (1870-1954), despite a demanding career as chairman of the board of both Du Pont de Nemours and General Motors. After purchasing an initial 80ha plot in 1906, Du Pont added significantly to the property (420ha). Films and exhibitions in the Peirce-du Pont House, a 1730 brick farmhouse, look back over Du Pont's life and the development of the gardens.
