The Michelin Guide's review
A vast expanse of ruins barely standing more than 50cm in height is all that remains from the small Phoenician city of Kerkouane, founded in the 6C BC not far from Carthage, at the top of the Cap Bon peninsula. Despite this, a visit here offers an easy understanding of the layout of the city, while the small on-site museum displays a number of fine exhibits, including items from everyday life. The reasons for and precise details of the city's abandonment, which has now been dated back to the period of the Punic Wars, are still unclear.
