The Michelin Guide's review
During the 18C, the original Baroque park was turned into an English garden containing temples, pavilions, grottoes and artificial ruins, where the Castle of Löwenburg, a fantastic ruin, best expresses the taste for Romantic sentimentalism of the time. At the highest point stands the statue of Hercules, emblem of Kassel, from which there is a fine view over the park and castle. Below the octogon forming the statue's pedestal is the great water staircase.
