Peaks, inlets and long sandy beaches lie along the eastern coast. Coming from Pigadia, a track on the right before Aperi leads to the lovely Achata beach. The Aperi-Spoa route offers amazing views. The beaches of Kyra Panagia, Apela and Agios Nikolaos are among the island's finest. Between Spoa and Olympos, another track heads north, and to the right are the superb yet deserted beaches of Agios Minas and Forokli. Perched on a rock, the fortified village of Olympos looks like something straight out of the Middle Ages.
