The Michelin Guide's review
The numerous temples near Kamphaeng Phet, where the Arannyik monks retired to meditate, bear witness to a Buddhist sect from Sri Lanka, which preached in favour of ascetics and which was fervently followed in the Sukhothai kingdom. The diverse shrines, the most ornate of which are Wat Phra Non, Wat Phra Si Iriyabot and Wat Chang Rob, were built for the most part during the 15 and 16C. Well preserved and set in green woodland, they are ideal destinations for a walk.
