Ruins of Polióchni
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
Poliochni was a village of ancient Neolithic huts (5000-4000 BC). It evolved into a prosperous city from the start of the Bronze Age (4000-2000 BC), destroyed by an earthquake c 1200 BC. The ruins are not particularly noteworthy, although the site has been beautifully restored, but they do reveal a democratic social organisation in place from prehistoric times.
