The Michelin Guide's review
Kabazaiku, which is the art of working with cherry bark, has been one of the craft specialities of Kakunodate for over 200 years. A visit to the museum will acquaint you with a collection of objects manufactured using this technique (tea chests, caskets, inro) and you will also be able to see demonstrations by master craftsmen. Also on display are a collection of samurai armour of the Satake clan, pottery and objects and tools of daily life. Large shop on the ground floor.
