The Michelin Guide's review
The works underway for the construction of the new metro line are unfortunately a blight on the landscape, albeit temporarily. The completion of this magnificent palace in 1688 was the first move to urbanise in connection with the new city, which the overpopulation of Copenhagen had made necessary. The equestrian statue of Christian V still stands in the centre of the square and, although most of the original buildings have now gone, the architectural continuity has been maintained.
