This exceptional hike, which is nonetheless within the reach of any walker with a pair of mountain boots, involves a relatively strenuous hour's climb through stunning scenery to a small refuge at the foot of the Mönch (3,650m). From the Oberer Mönchsjoch Pass, you can see the Schreckhorn.
