The Michelin Guide's review
The cradle of the Rohan family, who still live here (only the ground-floor is open to the public), it is one of the finest castles of western France. When seen from the River Oust, it resembles a fortress thanks to its towers and machicolations. The windows and dormer windows high up in the walls are part of the palace built in the 16C by Jean II. All of which strikingly contrasts with the elegant façade of the main building, seen from the park, whose granite carving is unique in Brittany.
