It is worth embarking on this steep climb (60m to get to an altitude of 2 860m) for the exceptional view over several massifs of the southern Alps that will greet you: to the north, the Queyras Valley, Mt Viso and the Ubaye Valley; to the northwest the massif of Mt Pelvoux; to the west the Upper Verdon; to the south the Digne Prealps; and to the east the Corborant and Argentera. On the eastern face of the Col de la Bonette, to the left, is the Notre Dame du Très Haut Oratory.
