The Church of Elijah the Prophet escaped Stalin's fury - to the delight of visitors, who come here to admire the remarkable frescoes covering its walls and galleries. Recounting the life of the prophet Elijah, they are the work of famous artists Guri Nikitin and Sila Savin from Kostroma, and from the workshop of Dmitri Semenov, originally from Yaroslavl, who created a unique blue colour the secret of which has never been found.
