The Michelin Guide's review
Housed in a former spice warehouse dating from the 18C, the Maritime Museum has fine collections of praos and canoes, and a selection of the countless types of boats that have sailed the seas around the archipelago over the centuries. An annexe of the museum, an old lookout tower (Menara Syahbandar) stands near Kali Besar (or Great Canal). Built in 1839, it served as both a watchtower and weather station. There is a splendid view over Sunda Kelapa from the top.
