The Michelin Guide's review
Salim Singh ki haveli is remarkable for its unusual silhouette - a type of tower whose upper storey expands into a projecting covered gallery. Carved peacocks support the balcony, while others can be seen strutting between the half-moons of the canopies. It is said that Salim Singh Mehta, the ambitious Prime Minister of Jaisalmer in the early 19C, extended his house by a further two storeys, but that the maharawal had these destroyed so that his palace remained the tallest residence in the town.
