The Michelin Guide's review
Around twenty domed pavilions (chhatri) of all sizes, built in white marble or ochre sandstone, are dotted around the cremation site of the maharajas and Kachhvaha princes (the chhatri of the women are situated further away, near Lake Man Sagar). The oldest is the white marble cenotaph of Jai Singh II, the dome of which is decorated with sculptures representing 18 apsaras (nymphs) and gandharva (celestial musicians). Also of interest is the cenotaph of Madho Singh II, just in front of that of his children, who died of malaria.
