The Michelin Guide's review
Although less interesting than the Amber Palace, Jaigarh Fort is nonetheless a spectacular demonstration of the military power of the Kachhvaha Rajputs. It was founded in the 12C, when the Kachhvahas captured these hills from the Minas and made them the guardians of their treasury. When Man Singh I built the Amber Palace, Jaigarh was used as a keep, water reservoir, arms foundry and treasury. The present buildings date from the 18C, but have been heavily restored over the years.
