The Michelin Guide's review
Pierre Loti (1850-1923) was a regular at this café when he was a young naval officer, as evidenced by the original works and contemporary illustrations of the writer on display here. Set up in a wooden house perched up on high, the café inspired several scenes in the novel Aziyadé. The huge terraces overlooking the estuary afford fine views over the Golden Horn at sunset, despite an increasingly industrial environment.
