Between Ispica and Modica, a fault (around 13km) is dotted with cave dwellings, little sanctuaries and necropolises. In the Larderia there are early-Christian catacombs (464 sepulchres), and the Grotte Cadute make up a set of dwellings on several levels. Opposite the entrance to the fenced-off area, there is a cave church (Chiesa Rupestre di San Nicolò) and a chapel nicknamed the Delicatessen (La Spezeria), probably because a monk used to prepare medicines there.
