The Michelin Guide's review
Verdant and solitary, this island will appeal to those keen to escape the crowds, unless you come here in August. Renowned for its capers and the dry grape used to make Malvasia wine, Salina offers several footpaths around its highest point, Monte Fossa della Felci (962m). A panoramic road leads to Santa Marina, the island's main town, and then on to Malfa, a peaceful hamlet surrounded by Malvasia vines, and Pollara, which is home to the most famous beach on the island.
