The castle (1856), which can sadly only be admired from afar, bears witness to the talent of David Bryce, who excelled in the Scottish noble style. Robert Lorimer designed the magnificent gardens. These unusual Italian-style terraced gardens command fine views that encompass Duart Castle in the foreground (3.5km walk along a path), stretching as far as Ben Nevis on a clear day.
