The Michelin Guide's review
In a magnificent mountain corrie in the shadow of Mt Tomaros (1 974m and 1 816m), the ancient shrine of Dodona occupies a site exuding a serene majesty. The city probably originated as a temple, dedicated first to Dione and then to Zeus, once the Greeks arrived. It was dominated by an acropolis, of which part of the wall survives. The site of the stadium (late 3C BC) can still be made out. The theatre is one of Ancient Greece's largest and best preserved.
