The Michelin Guide's review
The Itaipu Dam, the largest hydroelectric plant in the world, supplies electricity to the whole of southern Brazil and most of Paraguay. It stretches out for nearly 8km, stands up to 196m tall and produces nearly 94 million MW. While a visit to this impressive construction is undeniably fascinating, the controversy surrounding it persists, particularly because of its impact on the survival of riverside animal species. The dam has therefore undergone alterations with this concern in mind - watch this space!
