The Michelin Guide's review
Franklin Roosevelt had a small stone cottage built on the Springwood estate as a second home for his wife. Following her husband's death, Eleanor spent the last years of her life here until she passed away in 1962. The comfortable stone lodge was called Val-Kill for a nearby river.
