The Michelin Guide's review
The Imperial City within the citadel was the private residence of the emperor and was only opened for important ceremonies. Surrounded by a wall with four gates, the most remarkable of which lies to the south, the city makes for a pleasant stroll along its shaded avenues. While exploring the city, don't miss Thai Hoa Palace ("the Palace of Supreme Harmony"), the Mieu Dynastic Temple and the urns in the Hien Lam Cac Pavilion - works of art adorned with colourful enamel and fine carvings.
