The Palace of Supreme Harmony is one of the most spectacular buildings in the Imperial City. This vast room, where the emperor presided over ceremonies and received important guests, is richly decorated in red and gold lacquered teak and engraved with poems in Chinese characters and traditional motifs. Note the gilded throne, once occupied by the 13 emperors of the Nguyen dynasty, under a finely carved canopy, and the model of the Imperial City exhibited in a room to the rear of the palace.
