The Michelin Guide's review
The Nguyen emperors were very much concerned with life in the hereafter and paid close attention to the design of their mausoleums. These grandiose complexes also acted as secondary residences during their lifetime, where the emperors enjoyed spending time while overseeing the construction work. Despite the fact that the tombs are synonymous with hard labour and great loss of life, they are architectural gems considered one of the highlights of Hué.
