Veidivötn

The Michelin Guide's review
A black sand road, two impressive fjords, some 20km in a desolate landscape. Then the reward, at the end of the route: Veidivötn, a confusion of lakes in an exclusively volcanic landscape. The optimum formula to really make the most of exploring them is to follow a narrow path, climb on the mini-craters at the roadside. In a word, take your time and, who knows, maybe stay in a fishing hut once autumn comes. This excursion is a must, and one that takes you off the beaten track.
