The Michelin Guide's review
In 1957, the wealthy heiress, Ima Hogg (1882-1975), bequeathed her collections and her late-1920's house, to what is now part of Houston's Museum of Fine Arts. Some 28 rooms are filled with precious objects illustrating American know-how from the Colonial era to the late 19C: paintings by the Peale family of artists, 17C New England furniture, silverware signed Paul Revere... The magnificent gardens (13,5 acres) are renowned for their camelias and azaleas.
