Rothko Chapel
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
The Rothko Chapel, home to 14 monumental canvases painted in the mid-1960's by Mark Rothko (1903-1970), was designed as a place of meditation and all-faith worship. Visitors are invited to meditate and savor the silence within its walls, possibly leafing through books on spirituality. Outdoors, in the Plaza's reflecting pool stands Broken Obelisk, a tributary sculpture to Martin Luther King Jr. by Barnett Newman.
