Holocaust Museum Houston
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
This somber museum (1996, Ralph Appelbaum and Mark Mucasey), designed as an education center and a memorial to victims and survivors of the Holocaust, is unmistakable for the broad, dark, brick cylinder-reminiscent of a Nazi death-camp smokestack-that rises above it. The exhibit traces Jewish history and the roots of anti-Semitism to the World War II-era Holocaust, followed by the Liberation. The Memorial Room, with walls of remembrance, tears and hope, provides a quiet place of reflection.
