Museum of Old and New Art (Mona)
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
The brainchild of whimsical millionaire David Walsh, this museum, opened in 2011, has carved out a reputation for itself. Disconcerting, often provocative, and at times downright obscene, the MONA breaks with convention without ever losing its sense of fun. Here, you might find juxtaposed Egyptian sarcophagi, a Renoir painting and Cloaca Professional, an excrement-producing machine created by Belgian artist Wim Delvoye. The museum is capped off with a vineyard, several bars and restaurants, and an open-air stage.
