Pelizaeus and Roemer Museum
The Green Guide
The Michelin Guide's review
The Roemer and Pelizaeus Museum is home to a rich collection of Egyptian antiquities. Of particular interest are the life-size seated statue of the vizier and nephew (or cousin) of Khufu, Hem-lunu, who acted as a model for Potiphar in the novel Joseph and his brothers by Thomas Mann, and that of the scribe Heti, found in excavations carried out near Giza. The museum also houses a collection of Pre-Columbian art and Chinese porcelain, and is a regular venue for temporary exhibitions.
