The Michelin Guide's review
Yazilikaya was the religious sanctuary of Bogazkale. The ruins visible today date from the 13C BC. Only the foundations remain of the two temples, which were dedicated exclusively to the polytheist rites of the Hittites temples. However, the site has retained some moving bas-reliefs carved in the rock, which depict a procession of many of the Hittite gods, clad in long tunics or crowned with conical tiaras. The most striking of these is the 3m-tall effigy of the king and priest Tudhaliyas IV, which is carved into the stone.
