The experimental botanic gardens of the Northern Horticultural Society cover 28ha on a north-facing site and include a museum displaying old gardening tools. The pathways here run alongside the bulb plant garden, rose garden, perennial herbaceous plants rockery, the beds of heather (in flower all year round), the winter garden and above all its luxuriant and colourful borders.
