The Michelin Guide's review
Begun during Edward I's second campaign in Wales, Harlech Castle was built from 1283-1289. From the top of its 60m-high rock, its impressive silhouette dominates the plain and offers some fine views over the peaks of Snowdonia, the Lleyn peninsula beyond Tremadog Bay and, to the southwest, the Irish Sea. Since 2017, an impressive "floating" bridge has connected the castle with its visitor centre.
