  The Michelin Guide's review
On its islets and embankments or along its banks, West Lake is a real feast for the senses. Its location at the bottom of a basin of green hills also allows you to make out the tall forms of Hangzhou, the murmur of which seems a long way from here. Kiosks, pagodas and pavilions make up an enchanting picture-postcard scene, which is best appreciated from the top of Solitary Hill (Gu Shan). Renowned for its mild climate and excellent teas, the spot is to this day very dear to the Chinese.
